anribiotics This book has helped our family in MANY ways. The first of which was learning to make our own Fire Cider and not getting sick after using it for years. Aantibiotics are a number of good books out on Herbal Medicines, but this one was very educational in many ways. Herbal Antibiotics: Natural Alternatives for Treating Drug Resistant Bacteria
This author is not one of the few exceptions and as such this herbal is a pleasant read. The author seems to clearly know his herbs.
He hrrod specific ingredients and the mechanisms by which they work. He also includes scientific studies backing the herbs. Lastly, he both links herbs to specific ailments candida in my case and provides lengthy explanations on how herbal antibiotic treatments in general and specific work. Fo It seems to be a requirement that herbalists have good senses of humor. For example, I learned why most scientific studies show Echinacea ineffective they used the wrong species and that licorice is a synergist that brings out the best of other herbs.
I found this book to be better than his other book Herbal Antivirals: I imagine I will buy Herbal Antivirals if I ever come down with a nasty virus but probably not until then as its recommendations are specific to certain viruses e. Lymes stepehn don’t seem useful now.

Nov 08, Ioan Vlad rated it really liked it. This book changed my perspective about lab-making antibiotics. Incredible information for someone who is looking to add more knowledge about medical stuff. SO happy with this book. Lots of historical information and current scientific data.
It’s very in depth and a little complex at times.
I’ve read reviews with people complaining about the complexity of the information but I didn’t think it was too crazy. There was some really useful information on some herbs that I currently use and how I’ve actually been using them improperly.
Essentially wasting my money. Please, stop taking antibiotics that are not absolutely necessary! If you are not already completely freaked out by antibiotic resistant superbugs, you will be after reading this!
However, this book is filled with up to date information on the advances in comprehensive herbal medicine that can battle those deadly bacteria. Everyone should own a copy! Our health, the health of our children and the health of our planet depend upon it!

Herbal Antibiotics Quotes by Stephen Harrod Buhner
He is so smart. If you are into alternative medicine which I amthis book is for you. It is simple, cogent, and chocked full of vital information. Feb 08, bartosz rated it really liked it Shelves: Having browsed through another book from Stephen Harod Buhner, I decided that I liked his style enough to take a plunge into herbalism with his Herbal Antibiotics.
The premise of Herbal Antibiotics is antibiltics – fearing antibiotic resistant bacteria the author tries to come up with herbal alternatives of treating bacterial diseases.

The book explains how antibiotic resistance is neigh unavoidable and how the presence of antibiotics hospitals, farms and waters and the increasing concentration of people contribute to make the antibiotic apocalypse more than likely. The theory put forward by the author, and backed by research that he quotes, is that herbal treatments, unlike isolated molecules, don’t create antibiotic resistance and sometimes offer more effective treatment.
The book goes on to describes “the systemics” – herbs that work against a high spectrum of bacteria and who’s constituents easily cross into the hharrod, following the “systemics” the author describes herbs that hardod a more local treatment – either not effective against a broad range of bacteria or that don’t easily cross into the bloodstream.
Following those two chapters, is a chapter that seems to be the most original work of the author – a collection of herbs which interactions help the systemic and localized herbs – the synergists. In addition, Herbal Antibiotics contains information about immune boosting herbs and a herbal-medicine and a chapter on herbal medicine making which covers tinctures, decoctions, essential oils, measuring etc.
What drove me to the author is his style. It is rare that someone can convey information in a way that requires no effort from the reader and Stephen Buhner is such a person.
One almost reads his book like an adventure book. Unfortunately, some of the information assumes a level of knowledge that may be way over the head for most people. While it’s not crucial to understating the whole, I was dearly missing pointers on how to get that additional knowledge.
To be honest, reading anything by Buhner is on the edge of my comfort zone. On one hand, he sources his statements and prefaces any inference as such. On the other, he seems to believe in homeopathy and conspiracy theories regarding medical companies and he calls himself an earth poet. What’s even worse he likes Paul Krugman.
Nevertheless, the book itself buuhner fine. It’s even more than fine – it’s an excellent source on herbs and their uses in combating bacterial infections! Best with the companion book on herbal antivirals by the same author. I think everyone should own a printed copy of these books. Drug resistant pathogens kill more of us every day and modern medicine is failing to help.
Jun 12, Sandra Bloom rated it it was amazing. This is an important book that anyone involved with health care should read.

And I’ll be checking the references out in Pubmed. It runs through the reasons for antibiotic resistance, how and why we can counter this with whole plant rather than reductionist single constituents herbal medicine, a pretty detailed materia medica on each main herb mentioned and how to make your own remedies if so inclined.
I enjoyed so much I raced into the next one.
